A New York Construction Worker Dies After Wall Collapses
A New York City construction worker lost his life in a construction accident. The 29-year-old worker suffered fatal trauma to the head when the wall of a trench collapsed, burying him under debris, according to news reports. [Read more…]
New York Construction Worker Electrocuted
A New York construction worker was fatally injured in a recent workplace accident. According to reports, the 47-year-old construction worker was working in East Greenbush, approximately150 miles north of Manhattan, when the accident happened. The worker was employed by a paving company and was lowering a light tower at the time the accident happened. Apparently, the tower made contact with overhead power lines, setting off a fatal burst of electricity. Witnesses to the accident said the victim was consumed by the ensuing fire before anyone could do anything to help. [Read more…]

A rail car filled with construction materials caught on fire in New Jersey June 2012 when it was ignited by a welder. OSHA Fines NJ Contractor for Six Safety Violations
A Clifton construction contractor faces $108,240 in fines after an inspection revealed numerous hazards.
DD Stucco and Renovation LLC received six safety violation notices after an inspection by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) found a variety of inadequate safety protections–such as workers climbing on scaffolding that was not secured to an adjacent building or a firm foundation. OSHA Fines NJ Company For 19 Safety And Health Violations
A Clifton scrap metal company faces nearly $77,500 in fines for workplace safety and health violations.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Park Stein, Inc., for 19 workplace violations, including several repeat violations. A construction worker died May 2012 after falling 40 feet from a building in SoHo, according to news reports.
Adrien Zamora, 28, was one of many workers employed to restore the façade of an 11-story luxury loft apartment building on Broome Street. He fell three floors from the building shortly after 5 p.m., the article stated. [Read more…]
