Teenage Drivers and the Accident Rate
In the early morning hours of July 16, a car full of New Jersey teenagers was involved in a crash on Route 23 South by the Smoke Rise Turn, according to law enforcement officials and news reports. The investigation that followed the accident determined that the vehicle veered off the roadway and traveled sideways across the grass median before hitting a guardrail and flipping over. Law enforcement agencies are investigating whether alcohol and reckless driving played a part in the accident. [Read more…]
Work Zone Fatal Accident Under Investigation In New York
A tragic work zone accident took the lives of six people in upstate New York September 2012. According to news reports, a tractor-trailer ran into a series of vehicles that were either stopped or slowed in a work zone. The truck accident took place on a stretch of Route 11 in Jefferson County that was being paved at the time of the collision. Authorities say that the semi-truck first crashed into an SUV, which burst into flames, killing all five occupants of the vehicle. Then another SUV was hit by the tractor-trailer. It flipped over, killing the driver of that vehicle as well. A state transportation worker’s vehicle was also struck, causing it to ignite. The driver of that vehicle was seriously injured and remains in the hospital. New Jersey Woman Wins $750,000 Settlement in Dram Shop Law Case
A 61-year-old New Jersey woman recently settled a drunk driving accident claim for $750,000. According to news reports, $500,000 of the settlement will be paid by the insurer for the establishment where the drunk driver was drinking prior to the accident.
