The Holidays are upon us. Gift giving; gift buying; and holiday decorations. These are all part of the Holiday spirit. The last thing you want to deal with is a tragic event such as a fire. Whether you use a real tree or an artificial tree, the danger of fire can be real, unless you take the necessary steps to prevent them. A fire can change the Holidays from a HO HO affair to an OH OH affair or even a How did that happen, affair? The last thing that anyone wants is to wake up to the below event, a fire involving your Christmas tree:
First we need to determine the common causes of Christmas tree fires. According to the National Fire Protection association, these are the common causes:
1) Electrical failures or malfunctions were involved in one-third (32%) of the home Christmas tree structure fires.
2) One in six (17%) occurred because some type of heat source was too close to the tree.
3) Decorative lights on line voltage were involved in 12% of these incidents.
4) 7% percent of home Christmas tree fires were started by candles.
Now that we know the causes, below are some ways to prevent Christmas tree fires.
We hope this blog made you a little safer this Holiday Season. Happy Holidays & Happy New Year to you and your family.
