This month the Ginarte Law Firm has signed up to participate in a food drive that will benefit the local New Jersey community. The food drive will be administered through the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. In this difficult economic time, hunger continues to affect millions throughout the State of New Jersey. According to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey:
– Nearly 1 in 4 food insecure households accessed emergency food from a food pantry one or more times during 2011;
– Over 1 million people were food insecure in New Jersey in 2010. Of those, 45% are not eligible for federal nutrition assistance;
– In New Jersey, 84% of children in low-income families live in a household where housing costs exceed 30% of income. This is 17% higher than the overall average in the United States;
– 43% of people who receive food from CFBNJ are children and 10% are elderly; and
– 18% of CFBNJ clients with children said that their children sometimes skipped meals because there was not enough money for food during the previous 12 months.
The Ginarte Law Firm is proud to participate in the food drive. We have asked each of our attorneys and support staff to contribute to the cause. With over 100 employees and seven New York and New Jersey office locations, we expect to donate a substantial contribution to the food drive.
