It has been more than six years since his accident, but Luis García remembers it in detail. It was a normal work day, and almost at the time of leaving he was asked to finish installing a ceiling in a closet. Since there was no right sized ladder, he used a larger one, but since it did not open he decided to screw it to the wall. Shortly after starting the work, the screws gave way and the structure slid towards the ground. “I tried to hold on to the door frame, but I couldn’t reach it and I fell back, hitting my right shoulder, back and neck, and my foot got caught between both parts of the ladder,” he says.
Hearing the noise of the fall, one of his coworkers approached to remove the ladder. While still on the ground, he called 911 to send an ambulance, because the intention of his boss was to transfer him by car to a hospital. “I had already seen how they had treated other workers and that’s why I refused,” he says.
In the Emergency Room, the surgeons inserted a plate in his ankle, gave Luis pain relievers and sent home the next day. That night his boss called him to tell Luis that he would paid for everything. The social worker who was just talking to him to understand his case recommended Luis to seek a lawyer, and that was what he did. “I contacted the Ginarte law Firm and they immediately helped me to obtain workers’ compensation and medical appointments, because I was still in a lot of pain. It turned out that I had fractured my ankle in seven parts and had some vertebrae compressing my nerves in the back and neck. In the end I needed three operations,” he recalls.
Today, despite the fact that the operations were a success, Luis suffers from pain, particularly when the weather changes and has difficulty running and lifting weight. “Hire the Ginarte Law Firm and don’t doubt your decision. It’s for your health and the well-being of your family,” he convincingly says.
