Welcome to another edition of Meet the Staff! This month we are going to our Perth Amboy office to meet Branch Office Manager, Jannet Alston. Jannet was born in Puerto Rico to Cuban parents. She was raised in Miami, until the age of 16. In the late 1990s her family moved to Borough Park, Brooklyn.
At an early age Jannet was taught the life lesson of hard work, always taking the opportunity to work when it was presented. Growing up she had a variety of different jobs that helped her grow as a person; ranging from meat packing in kosher meat markets to decorating cakes at an Italian bakery. These jobs taught her the role of responsibility and accountability, which would help build her future self.
Once Jannet was old enough she moved to New Jersey to start her own life. Another life lesson that she would learn, as many others have as well, starting out on your own can be a real challenge. However, she did not let it get the best of her. She used the hard working mentality she learned early on in her life to maintain a full time job, sometimes even two to support herself. Jannet did not stop there; she continued her education in Paralegal Studies during this time as well.
Jannet loves trying new things, one of her hobbies being road trips. Jannet truly enjoys trying different foods, meeting new people and traveling to different states in the country. To go along with Jannet’s hobbies she also has a few hidden talents; drawing and poetry. Her favorite poet is Jose Marti. “Si no luchas ten al menos la decencia de respetar a quienes si lo hacen” which translates to “If you do not fight at least have the decency to respect those who do,” is a quote of his she is fond of.
Jannet is married to her wonderful husband who she truly loves and admires. She is the mother to four beautiful children. Jannet continues to teach her children the importance of family, education and becoming a productive citizen. These traits were infused in Jannet’s nature and she will pass them on to her children as she raises them to adulthood.
Spiritual guidance is one thing Jannet cannot live without. Each person’s search for meaning is unique and must be held sacred to them. Spiritual guidance is needed during a person’s greatest moments when they truly need to shine through. Jannet believes that spiritual guidance is also needed in a person’s weakest moments as well. Know that there is the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel” will help you get through those moments.
Jannet’s most memorable moment at Ginarte was when she first became an employee of the firm. She had always seen the commercials on TV and never thought she would become employed at Ginarte law office. However, when she was offered an opportunity to join the firm, she was ecstatic to know that now every time she saw the personal injury, construction accident or any of the other Ginarte commercials she was helping in the effort.
This brings this edition of “Meet the Staff” to a close. Jannet’s hard work and dedication to helping people has proven to be a major asset to the Ginarte family. We hope you enjoyed getting to know our Perth Amboy branch manager Jannet Alston a little better.
