A Clifton construction contractor faces $108,240 in fines after an inspection revealed numerous hazards.
DD Stucco and Renovation LLC received six safety violation notices after an inspection by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) found a variety of inadequate safety protections–such as workers climbing on scaffolding that was not secured to an adjacent building or a firm foundation. Of the six notices, four were for serious violations.
A serious violation is one where there is a substantial probability that death or serious physical harm could occur.
“This company is risking worker injury and possible death by failing to provide proper fall protection,” said Kris Hoffman, director of OSHA’s Parsippany area office. “Employers need to know that falls are the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry, and proper precautions must be taken.”
According to OSHA, construction-related falls account for more injures than any other sector.
