New York Woman Killed by Garbage Truck

A woman was killed in Penfield, N.Y., when she was struck by a Suburban Disposal garbage truck as she was getting her mail, according to news reports. The garbage truck was backing up at the time, through the woman apparently did not hear its beeping warning sound. In the early morning hours of July 16, a car full of New Jersey teenagers was involved in a crash on Route 23 South by the Smoke Rise Turn, according to law enforcement officials and news reports. The investigation that followed the accident determined that the vehicle veered off the roadway and traveled sideways across the grass median before hitting a guardrail and flipping over. Law enforcement agencies are investigating whether alcohol and reckless driving played a part in the accident. [Read more…]

A 61-year-old New Jersey woman recently settled a drunk driving accident claim for $750,000. According to news reports, $500,000 of the settlement will be paid by the insurer for the establishment where the drunk driver was drinking prior to the accident.
