When we think of Thanksgiving, we usually think of Turkey, Football and Family among other things. The last thing you would associate Thanksgiving with is injuries. Unfortunately just like every other Holiday, Thanksgiving can bring an abundance of injury risks.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Thanksgiving is the number one Holiday for traffic related deaths, based upon the data from 2010. This is the most recent data available. You might have thought it would be New Year’s but it is not. The chart to the right breaks down fatalities by Holidays for 2010.
Other non-fatal injuries include burns, food poisoning, cuts, sprains, strains, fractures and yes the dreaded heartburn.
Watch out who is cooking and carving that Turkey. And please be careful this Holiday Season.
Happy Thanksgiving!
