In a recent Manhattan construction accident, a scaffold fell when it was hit by a vehicle.
This unusual accident happened at 42nd Street and First Avenue. NBC New York reports that the crash occurred when a taxi struck an SUV driven by an off-duty NYPD officer. The collision caused the SUV to jump the curb, running into the scaffold.
The cab driver, his passenger, the SUV driver, and a pedestrian were all injured in the accident and by the subsequent falling scaffold. Photos posted by ABC show the large structure resting on top of the SUV.
The cab driver was the most seriously injured, though all of the accident-related injuries were minor according to EMS officials.
In New York, you don’t have to go far to see scaffolding. In many cases, the meant-to-be-temporary structures have been around so long, they seem to be a permanent addition to the building they front. These structures are not always safe, despite their prevalence.
Whether you are injured in a car crash or in the aftermath of a car crash, you could be entitled to compensation. Similarly, if your scaffolding accident is a construction mishap, someone could be held responsible for your injuries.
